What A Year 1952 Was! The Korean War dragged on for a third year. East Berlin was controlled by the Russians and West Berlin by the Allied Command. Marilyn Monroe demonstrated that she is more than a pretty face as she undertook her first starring role in “Don’t Bother to Knock,” playing opposite Richard Widmark. Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds delighted audiences with “Singin’ in the Rain.” Dick Clark went to work for WFIL Radio in Philadelphia, hosting Caravan of Music. TV advertising came of age and Harry Belafonte recorded his first sides for RCA. Googie architecture made national news and 70,000 attended the opening of the 15th Olympic Games at Helsinki.
Our big, classic hardbound yearbook is filled to bursting with stories, photos, and artwork detailing the movies, music, shows, sports, fashion, news, people, places, and events that made 1952 unique and memorable. Personalize it on the special dedication page for a handsome and much appreciated gift.
